The 50th anniversary of JOYCE is a celebration of half a century of iconic expression. In homage to the spirit of JOYCE and this momentous milestone, a collective of influential designers revisit their archives and pay tribute to their own most iconic moments through the reignition of emblematic pieces and themes from seasons bygone.

Each iconic in their own way, these designs have been reproduced in original form in limited quantities exclusively for JOYCE.

Raf Simons

FALL WINTER 2001

The Fall Winter 2001 collection by Belgium designer Raf Simons, marked both a return to the runway after a year-long sabbatical, and a dramatic departure from the super-slim silhouettes of his earlier work. The collection’s most iconic piece is a baggy Antwerp-print hoodie, inspired by the ultra-layered of Vienna teenagers.

Yohji Yamamoto

FALL WINTER  2004

The Yohji Yamamoto Autumn Winter 2004 menswear collection featured knit sweaters emblazoned with Ultraman Cosmos motifs from the iconic Japanese television show’s 2001 spinoff series. The season marked the last time any iteration of Ultraman made an appearance in the designer’s Pour Homme line, making the sweaters highly in-demand amongst collectors.

Christopher Kane

SPRING SUMMER 2009

Scottish wunderkind Christopher Kane Spring Summer 2009 collection took cues from movies such as The Flintstones, One Million Years B.C., Gorillas in the Mist and Planet of the Apes – and translated them into an iconic collection, which featured that Gorilla print dress worn by every 2009 “it” girl.

SPRING SUMMER 2014

The Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2014 collection showcases the designer’s iconic approach to detailing through audacious and opulent gold foiling, frills and finishing, including statement rosettes. Fast-forward to the now and the gilded accents pay apt ode to the golden anniversary of JOYCE.

SPRING SUMMER 2015

Inspired by sensuality, the Dries Van Noten Spring Summer 2015 menswear collection paid specific tribute to one of the world’s most iconic male ballet dancers, Rudolf Nureyev. Along with blousy shirts and fluid oversized tailoring, a gold embroidered harness covering just one shoulder stole the show.

JUUN.J

SPRING SUMMER 2017

Korean designer Jung Wook Jun of JUUN.J is known for his avant-garde influence and proportion play that leans into oversized cuts and non-binary silhouettes. His progressive Spring Summer 2017 collection – which would look perfectly on-point for 2021 – draws reference to the designer’s time in the military through an iconic anti-gravity suit worn by NATO fighter pilots in the 1950s.
